THAT FUCKER FROM I COMPANY
There are a lot of choices I could have gone with—Sobel, Cobb, and Dike are the usual suspects. But, I have to say, they’re not my least favorite. Sobel was an ass because he had to be, and it made the company stronger. Cobb wasn’t an ass in real-life; that was the miniseries’ portrayal because there always has to be a villain, and after Cobb had been in the Army for so long, I would be miserable in his situation, too. Dike was a shitty leader who was in way over his head. If put in his position at that moment in time, I’m sure I wouldn’t do much better. But that fucking asshole of a replacement who got sloppy and drunk and killed people? I have absolutely no sympathy for whatsoever. None. Especially when he shot Grant, a Toccoa man, and left him to die. Grant, who only was trying to help—a man who had made it as a quiet but strong force in Easy Company, through the entire war only to get seriously wounded by a man from his own regiment. A veteran, shot by a replacement who was drunk off his ass. That scene and the ones following it set me into a rage because it should not have happened.
